UK Riots Reason

UK Riots Reason: UK Riots: 3 Pakistani Also Killed CLAIM: London Riots have spread to new areas of London while looting erupted in the cities of Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol as Britain’s worst violence in decades extended into a third night. An extra 1,700 police officers were deployed in London, where shops were looted and buildings were set alight. Police have made 1,069 arrests across the country in response to the trouble, including 768 in London, 109 in the West Midlands and 90 in Nottingham.

At least 167 people have been charged so far. Greater Manchester Police’s Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan said he force was “absolutely intent” on bringing the rioters to justice and his officers were already studying CCTV. Authorities struggled to contain the country s most serious unrest since race riots set the capital ablaze in the 1980s.

David Cameron, the British prime minister, will chair an emergency security meeting on Tuesday to discuss the riots. The number of people arrested in London since the violence began has risen to 334, police said Tuesday. Dozens of police officers have been injured, police said.

British Prime Minister David Cameron will address an emergency session of parliament Thursday on the worst riots in a generation after a major police operation and heavy rain stopped a fifth night of violence.
