X Games 2011

X Games 2011: X Games Summer X Games Kick Off In Los Angeles: The summer X Games started Thursday in Downtown LA, and already there have been injuries, crashes, and phenomenal feats.

While the action sports event has traditionally been held in LA, this is the first year that the two arenas are within walking distance of each other, ESPN tells us. The Staples Center and LA Live are hosting the action, the vibe is festival meets extreme sports.

The biggest news of the day was Travis Pastrana's crash in the Moto X Best Trick event. The Huffington Post Sports reports that the star has a broken foot and ankle. Jackson Strong then won the event, according to the LA Times.

18-year-old amateur skateboarder Raven Tershy took home the gold in the Skateboard Park event, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel, even after crashing.

In the BMX Big Air event, Steve McCann performed a double front flip followed by a double tailwhip, and took first place, while his competitor Chad Kagy fell from 45 feet in the air, reports the LA Times. Skateboard Big Air and BMX Freestyle Vert competitions are on the agenda for today, according to Yahoo Sports.By Huff post
