Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake have a three-way on 'Saturday Night Live': When Justin Timberlake signs on to host an episode of "Saturday Night Live," a stand-out Digital Short is something of a given. Lady Gaga was bound to just be icing on the cake.

So we weren't surprised when reports emerged this week that Timberlake and Andy Samberg were spotted in New York, sporting their "D*** in a Box" costumes alongside "Mother Lover" co-stars Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson.

But it was Gaga who played the leading lady in this latest installment of the chin-strapped duo's saga, "Three-way."

Announcing "It's OK when it's a three-way" and "It's not gay when it's a three-way," Timberlake and Samberg used Gaga as an excuse for some illicit male bonding. (Really, they've already gotten freaky with one anther's mothers, this was the inevitable next step.)

Does it live up to the high expectations of previous installments? We're inclined to say that the short makes the best possible use of Gaga and the chorus might even trump "Mother Lover" as a catchy tune. The "Three's Company" references ("Two Jack Trippers and a Chrissy") and new Kid 'n Play-worthy costumes just seal the deal.

Sarah McLachlan

Will the Sarah McLachlan ballet tour outside Alberta? I was in Toronto over Easter and heard the tail end of a news segment about the ballet, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, based on Sarah McLachlan’s music and grumbled, “Of course Toronto has the cool ballet.” 
It turns out Fumbling is a production of the Alberta Ballet which, under the artistic direction of Jean Grand-Maître, is developing a name for itself for producing pop-ballets. It also turns out that the last of the seven shows was on May 14, several days ago, with no news that the production will travel out of the province.

Although few people got to see the ballet production in Alberta, in the order of a billion people watched the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies where the “Sacred Grove” lyrical jazz/ballet show was set to McLachlan’s “No Ordinary Miracle” and directed by Jean Grand-Maître.

 I loved that segment. The Globe & Mail review of Fumbling named the songs the ballet/story is set to including some of my favourite songs. I resolved to listen to her albums again and you can see that I’ve dug them out to learn to surprise myself and learn that I own nine Sarah McLachlan albums!

Harold Camping Failed

Harold Camping Fail: Harold camping failed once again. Harold Camping failed to correctly use the Word of Truth. Westmoreland Times staff has been publishing our live feed for the last few hours from Oakland, California – the home of the international headquarters for the Family Radio Worldwide organization.

Harold Camping, the president of the Family Radio doomsday group, predicted that May 21st would mark the end of the world along with the “rapture” of Christians worldwide.

This update is being posted at 6:01 p.m., one minute after the time predicted by Camping. There have been no reports of stars falling from the heavens, Christians being “raptured” or fire destroying mass groups of people.

Upon checking their official web site, it was not available for viewing at the time of the writing of this update. Google’s cache of the site showed that the organization is still seeking donations.

Conan the Barbarian

Conan The Barbarian Gets a New International Poster: Killer New International Movie poster for the upcoming film “Conan the Barbarian” by director Marcus Nispel Marcus Nispel (Frankenstein, Friday the 13th, Pathfinder) starring Stephen Lang (Avatar), Rose McGowan (Machete, Red Sonja), Ron Perlman (Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, The Hobbit: Part 2) and Jason Momoa as Conan.
The film is based on author Robert E. Howard’s “Conan the Barbarian” character, which he created in 1932. The character has since been adapted into multiple mediums, from previous films, TV series, comic books, and cartoons.

Synopsis: The tale of Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.

The film has a tentative 2011 release date, and would be a film reboot of the Conan films, which were “Conan The Barbarian” in 1982 and “Conan The Destroyer”, both starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham ticket pre-sale begins Saturday, May 21: Jeff Dunham's new comedy show, "Identity Crisis," kicks off Family Weekend on Friday, Sept. 23, and the Miami University community can purchase pre-sale tickets beginning Saturday, May 21.

Dunham plans to introduce a new addition to his comedic crew of puppets. Join Walter the Grumpy Retiree, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, the manic purple creature Peanut and meet the new guy.

Tickets are available at www.muohio.edu/FamilyWeekend and the Shriver Center box office, 529-3200, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Miami community pre-sale runs through June 30. The public sale begins July 1.

Dunham will perform at 8:30 p.m. in Millett Hall. All tickets are $40 (includes box office service fees; other fees may apply).

Earthquake In New Zealand

Earthquake In New Zealand Hits, Just As Harold Camping Predicted?; Magnitude 5.8 - KERMADEC ISLANDS, NEW ZEALAND 2011 May:
New Zealand's Kermadec Islands saw a 6.1 earthquake, but did Harold Camping accurately predict?

While Harold Camping’s proclamation of the rapture coming May 21, 2011, it’s safe to say we have all survived. We did not see Judgement Day and most families today are thankfully still making plans for the school and work week ahead.

Most people jokingly referred to the world ending on Facebook and Twitter but went on with their regular schedules. While some had end of the world parties, while others made end of the world confessions, radio DJs played R.E.M.’s “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It” about a million times.

But still no doomsday.

Yet one of Camping’s prophecies has come true. New Zealand did have an earthquake today according to the United States Geological Service.

USC reports that a 6.1 earthquake occurred on the the islands of Kermadec:

    The 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the uninhabited islands on Sunday at 9 a.m., New Zealand time. The islands are about 500 miles northeast of New Zealand’s North Island.

Since the islands are about 500 miles northeast, the quake clearly did no damage to the North Island.

So while some may think that Camping’s earthquake prediction for New Zealand did kinda come true, there’s two things wrong with it.

Bernard Hopkins

Bernard Hopkins Vs. Jean Pascal II: Hopkins Becomes Oldest Man To Win Title With Decision Victory;Bernard Hopkins Beats Jean Pascal to Become Oldest Boxing Champ Ever:
Bernard Hopkins, at 46 years old, became the oldest man to ever win a championship in boxing history, outpointing Jean Pascal and taking the younger man to school throughout the fight. Hopkins won on scores of 115-114, 115-113 and 116-112. Bernard Hopkins won the Bad Left Hook card, 117-112.

Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO) is the legitimate light heavyweight champion for a second time, following his years of domination in the middleweight division. Pascal, as Hopkins said, fought fairly well for about four rounds, but after that it was all Bernard Hopkins. The Philadelphia legend simply dominated the remainder of the fight, sans a 12th round when Pascal did hurt Hopkins.

Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO) just is not good enough for Bernard Hopkins, and over their two fights, I think that played out. The first fight was close, but I felt Hopkins won. The second fight was really not close, and luckily this time, Hopkins got the cards he very richly deserved.

Hopkins also complimented Pascal after the fight, though he did try to give him some advice. You may recall that he did the same thing in 2008 against Kelly Pavlik, and Pavlik has really never been the same. This was also Hopkins' best performance, by far, since that fight. The flaws in Pascal's game are obvious, and he badly needs to correct them if he's going to maintain his status as a legitimate top light heavyweight.

Hopkins also says he has no plans to retire, and has two opponents in mind: Chad Dawson first, and Lucian Bute second. Pascal asked for a third fight, and honestly I don't think it would be the worst thing, but Dawson is in line next, and you can expect that fight later this year. Hopkins is 46, and probably doesn't see any need to fight Pascal again.

Congratulations to Bernard Hopkins. Tonight, he made history, and we all got to see it.

M1 Service Down

M1 Service Down: M1 Service Down since morning. Is m1 Service down? Seems now its turn to have problems with 3G. Since about 7pm (at least that’s when I noticed), I was unable to access 3G data services. Voice calls were okay though, fortunately, so at least in this respect it was better than the SingTel 3G outage that happened last year.

I wonder how reliable the 3G elsewhere in the world. The outage from SingTel 3G last year lasted some 7 hours (according to CNET). It’s now over 2 hours with M1. It seems the “uptime” for 3G here isn’t great.

Update (9pm): Ok just after I blog about it, the service seems to be back up.

The company suffered a massive security vulnerability in the past two weeks with the personal data of 77Millions users, including credit card number and fell into the hands of hackers.
